Egypt Post issues a commemorative postage stamp on the occasion of passing of the centenary of the passing of people`s artist “Sayed Darwish” who is considered one of the most important pioneers of the musical renaissance in Egypt and the Arab world and deserved the title of “the people’s artist”.
 Sayed Darwish composed and sang a lot of songs which became part of the Egyptian heritage as “Shed El Hezam”, “Ana Haweit”, “Salma Ya Salama”, “El Helwa Di”. He was the first artist to link art with politics through “Oum Ya Masri” to motivate the Egyptians in 1919 revolution, moreover he is the music composer of the Egyptian national anthem.
