Egypt Post has issued a commemorative miniature sheet celebrating “Post Day 2026”and 160 years of the first Egyptian stamp.
In January 1866, the first set of Egyptian stamps consisting of seven denominations bearing Ottoman inscriptions was issued under Khedive Ismail. These stamps were printed in Genoa, Italy, before transferring printing technology to Egypt. At that time, the paper used in printing process was made of cotton or linen. Since then, postage stamps have become an important tool for documenting significant historical events.
Since its foundation, Egypt Post achieved notable success throughout Egypt's history, thanks to employees' efforts, it has become a pivotal link in serving citizens and a role model among postal authorities worldwide.
